Department State Health Services has established 11 Prevention Resource Centers across the state of Texas. Region 9 PRC has been givien the resources to maximize prevention efforts by performing a coordinative role between DSHS and other entities that are involved in alcohol, tobacco, and other drugs.
The overall goal of Region 9 PRC is to increase the effectiveness and visibility of prevention of alcohol, tobacco and other drug use and abuse within the region through information dissemination, community education, identification of community resources and identifying best practices in prevention.
Counties covered are: Andrews, Borden, Coke, Concho, Crane, Crockett, Dawson, Ector, Gaines, Glasscock, Howard, Irion, Kimble, Loving, Martin, Mason, McCulloch, Menard, Midland, Pecos, Reagan, Reeves, Schleicher, Sterling, Sutton, Terrell, Tom Green, Upton, Ward and Winkler.
Region 9 PRC is administered by the Permian Basin Regional Council on Alcohol & Drug Abuse.
